Who do you say Jesus is?
A personal answer rooted in truth
After hearing what others say, Jesus turns to His disciples. He welcomes a real response, not borrowed religious language.
Read the exchange
Read Matthew 16:13–17. Notice the answers other people give, Peter's answer, and what Jesus says about its source.
An honest answer
Peter confesses Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of the living God. Messiah means God's promised and anointed King. Peter is still learning what His kingship and suffering will mean, yet he has begun to see Jesus' true identity.
Christian faith is personal, but we do not invent Jesus for ourselves. We recognize who He is through Scripture, the Spirit's work, the church's witness, and a life of following.
You may be ready to confess faith clearly, or you may still be investigating. Do not manufacture certainty or an emotional moment. Tell Jesus the truth about where you are, keep reading, and invite trustworthy Christians to walk with you. Trust rests in Jesus, not perfect words or intense feelings.
Look closely
- What answers do people give about Jesus?
- How does Peter answer?
- Where does Jesus say this understanding came from?
Answer honestly
- How would you answer Jesus today in your own words?
- What do you believe, and what remains uncertain?
- What next step would be honest rather than pressured?

Bring your real questions
Jesus, I do not want to repeat words I do not mean. Here is what I believe, what I hope, and what I still question. Reveal Yourself through Scripture and lead me into truth. I place the trust I have in You and ask You to grow it. Amen.
Put your answer into words
Write two or three sentences answering “Who is Jesus?” Include one truth from this week's passages and one honest question or next step. If you wish, share with a safe, mature Christian and ask them to listen before responding.
Jesus, today I believe… I am still wondering… My next step is…
